Yesterday I posted an overview on lightweight quilts from Enlightened Equipment. While I am still debating quilt vs. sleeping bag, down vs. synthetic; Hammock Gear provides a cheaper alternative that might just push me to take the leap.
I think the ideal temperature rating for when and where I hunt is around 10 degrees. Hammock Gear does not offer a 10 degree quilt, but the zero degree Burrow 0 in long with 850 fill treated down weighs in at 23.8ozs and is just shy of $300. The Revelation Pro at 10 degrees in the Long Standard configuration, with 900HD weighs in at 23.67oz, but cost significantly more at $595.
In the never ending pursuit of lighter gear its really hard not to ignore the weight saving opportunity a quilt provides.
Below are some photos from Hammock Gear.
