Yesterday I posted an overview on lightweight quilts from Enlightened Equipment.  While I am still debating quilt vs. sleeping bag, down vs. synthetic; Hammock Gear provides a cheaper alternative that might just push me to take the leap.    I think the ideal temperature rating for when and where I hunt is around 10 degrees. I have done a lot research over the last few months and am seriously considering trying out a quilt.   The weight to warmth ratio is pretty darn impressive.   I due have two concerns though. 1) I'm a tad leery of losing the zipper and hood (most reviews seem to dismiss this) 2) Down vs. Synthetic fill (although waterproof down options somewhat negate the argument) If you are an ounce counter like me that you at least have to check out

What Stove?

I personally use a Jetboil Sumo Ti and a MSR Reactor 1.7L as my main back-country stoves.  I also use a MSR Pocketrocket as a backup stove.   These three stoves have served me well for a variety of trips and uses.  Please keep in mind I eat dehydrated meals so my use of a stove is purely to boil water.   If you are a back-country chef another stove might serve you better.  At some point I want to add
